Fats are vital. Many children with ADHD also suffer from excessive thirst, dry skin, eczema and asthma if they are deficient in good fats. Good fats found in fish, nuts and seeds, are vital for the development of the child’s brain and nerve cells, ie cognition and behaviour. Several vitamins and minerals are needed as co-factors to breakdown these fats into prostaglandins, ie anti-inflammatory agents in the body needed for many functions including communication in the brain.

Dysbiosis indicates an imbalance in intestinal flora. Bacterial or fungal overgrowth, parasites or infections in the intestines release toxins which may have a negative impact on brain chemistry leading to hyperactive behaviour. Dysbiosis may also lead to leaky gut syndrome, the physical deterioration of the gut wall allowing large dietary components into the bloodstream which may trigger allergies to otherwise safe foods. The intestine being the absorption site for nutrients, it is of vital importance that it be healthy and sound. >>>
